Take control of your health with your gut health.

The gut is commonly referred to as the SECOND BRAIN due to its influence and control it has on your body and mind. The primary function of the gut is digestion and absorption of food, however research it also plays a vital role in the maintenance of the immune system, brain development and behavior and even production of vital vitamins and impacts many other body functions.

Criteria for Gut Health

  • Microbial Richness: Distinct Species
  • Diversity Index: Distribution of species
  • Nutrition & Diet
  • Hygiene & Environment
  • Dysbiosis: Microbial imbalance which may cause a diseased condition.
  • Infection & Antibiotic

Gut bacteria affects

  • Immunity
  • Mood & Mental health
  • Vitamin & minerals levels
  • Weight & Metabolism
  • Sleep
  • Stress
  • Food absorption & Digestion
  • Skin
  • Energy & focus
  • Allergies
  • Inflammation
  • Leaky gut
  • Healthy ageing
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Organ health & function
  • Disease prevention

The type of bacteria you have in your gut can have beneficial or negative impacts on your health. We help you find out which bacteria has colonised your gut and help you improve your levels of more beneficial bacteria.

Know your microbes

In this section of the report, you will get an overview of the microbial composition of the gut.

  • Enterotypes microbial profiles based on physiology, anatomy, genetic
  • Ability of activities in the human colon like fermentation of carbohydrates, micronutrient digestion and more
  • Gut bacteria types
  • Presence of Firmicutes - part of the gut flora
  • Amount of gut bacteria
  • Body energy resorption
  • Bacteria related to the development of diabetes and obesity.
  • Distribution of gut bacteria
  • Monitor changes in bacteria
  • Identify gut bacteria change based on as diet, medications (antibiotics), etc
  • Presence of phylum Actinobacteria
  • Maintenance of intestinal barrier functions
  • Gut Bacteria characteristic of a diets enriched in refined sugar
  • Status of gut energy for the proliferation of cells and stimulating the immune system
  • Gut bacteria markers of animal proteins and saturated fats, specialized in animal carbohydrates
  • Status of maintaining a low-oxygen environment of the GI tract.
  • Gut bacteria based on low fiber diet
  • Carbohydrates and proteins through fermentation
  • Gut Bactria environment status
  • Presence of Proteobacteria
  • Presence of Prevotella – associated with fiber-rich diet

  • The glucose balance in the gut.
  • Presence of Verrucomicrobia
  • Investigate variability in your diet.
  • The presence of Fusobacteria
  • Gut Bactria and enzyme functions contributing to the inflammation
  • Presence of Phyla - sequencing techniques and cohort studies for gut comparison
  • Presence of Bacteroidetes - Play an important role in metabolic activities
  • Microbial Richness - the total number of microbes present or detected in the gut. Low microbial richness could hamper your overall health, the immune system, inflammatory activity etc

Pathway Analysis

The pathway is the metabolic activity that a microbe in the gut undertakes using certain macro and micronutrients in the diet to produce by-products. It is very important in maintaining the correct level of gut activity , we look for and monitor :

  • Anti-Inflammatory Activity
  • Uric Acid Production Pathways
  • Pro-Inflammatory Activity
  • Microbial Richness
  • Ammonia Production Pathways
  • Protein Fermentation
  • Bile Acid Metabolism Pathways
  • Vitamin B1 synthesis pathway
  • Butyrate Production Pathways
  • Vitamin B2 synthesis pathway
  • LPS Biosynthesis Pathways
  • Vitamin B3 synthesis pathway
  • Methane Gas Production Pathways
  • Vitamin B5 synthesis pathway
  • Oxalate Metabolism Pathways
  • Vitamin B6 synthesis pathway
  • Putrescine Production Pathways
  • Vitamin B7 synthesis pathway
  • Salt Stress Pathways
  • Vitamin B9 synthesis pathway
  • Sulfide Gas Production Pathways
  • Vitamin B12 synthesis pathway
  • TMA Production Pathways
  • Vitamin K synthesis pathwa

Microbial Profiles

We cover over 1500 microbial profiles in our report and look for the different types of bacteria in the gut that are identified by sequencing techniques. The number of bacterial profiles that get detected in a sample varies based on the mode of sequencing selected - 16 S RNA or Shotgun metagenomics. The number of bacterial profiles detected may vary due to several factors such as Nutrition, Medications – Antibiotics, Hygiene factors, infections. We look for :

  • Probiotics Beneficial bacteria of the gut. They help in the digestion of food, destroy disease-causing cells, and produce vitamins. Found in food sources such as yoghurt, kefir, fermented products, etc.
  • Pathogens - Harmful bacteria of the gut. When there is an increase in their number, gut health is heavily compromised.
  • Associated with poor hygienic conditions and are disease-causing.
  • Opportunistic Microbes - Typically, non-pathogenic microorganisms act as a pathogen in certain circumstances.
  • Generally, they proliferate when immunity is compromised.
  • Commensal Microbes These microbes live in a commensal relationship with the host. They derive benefits from the host (human) without causing any harm to them.

Recommendations

Bases on your report we will provide reccomedications to maintain a healthy gut and advice on the consumption of food sources that are rich in probiotics and prebiotics.

  • Eat-Limit-Avoid
As the name suggests, our food recommendations are devised to give personalized food recommendations based on your gut health. The food is further divided into categories based on their food type. Our food recommendations will help you meet your nutritional needs and maintain a healthy gut.
  • Helping you rebuild and improve your gut health and wellbeing
Consuming certain micronutrients would help enrich the gut with ideal microbes while suppressing the growth of the unfavorable ones. We recommend that consuming food sources rich in these micronutrients would help maintain balanced gut flora
